Reading so many of the posts (on both sides) I recognize that, compared to my
High School education, that people born some decades later, have the
equivilent of a 5th grade education, at most. No sense of history and it's pitfalls,
no understanding of the Founding Father's concept of a new nation. Those who
can't grasp the concept of Freedom and "Inalienable" Rights, granted by our
Creator, are not necessarily stupid, they are simply IGNORANT. As citizens, we
have Rights and Responsibilities. You can't have one without the other.

We have the Right to speak freely, even against our Government. We have the
Responsibility to speak out, and even rebel, whenever that Right is limited
(abridged).

We have the Right to worship, or not worship. We have the Responsibility to
ensure Freedom of religion, and Freedom from religion.

We have the Right to Assemble, to Protest, and to Criticize our leaders. We
have the Responsibilty to throw them out of Office, if they restrict those
Rights.

We have the Right to petition and demand redress of grievances. We have the
Responsibility to enforce that Right by means of the Courts or our
Representatives..

We have the Right to follow our own path to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit
(not the Guarantee) of Happiness. We have the Responsibility to pursue our goal
as to not restrict the Rights of others

We have the Right to defend our Constitution, against all enemies, foriegn
and domestic. We have the Responsibility to overthrow any such elected or
appointed Government that restricts the Bill of Rights.

We have the Right to be Equal under the Law and the Constitution. We have
the Responsibility to ensure that all citizens are treated equally.

If you served in the Military, you assumed the Responsibility of protecting
the Constitution, with your life, if necessary. You swore an Oath to do so.
Such an Oath has no time limit. You may never have been called back into
Service, but the Obligation remains. You willingly assumed that Responsibility and
Risk.

Generations have fought and died for the Rights you have today, whatever your
race, religion, opinions, etc. There are those who still have no guaranteed
Rights under our Constitution and Laws, and it is the Obligation of every
citizen to fight for the Rights of Others denied them, that they themselves
enjoy. That was the Intent of the Founding Fathers, and they understood that it
would take time to overcome all of the inequities. THAT was and IS "The
American Dream".

If you do not uphold all the Rights and Responsibilities of our Constitution,
you are not an American. If you attempt to enable laws that restrict any or
all of the above, you are not American. If you attempt to force your
ideologies/beliefs on others, you are not an American. Your Rights END when you
infringe on the Rights of others, and you are liable under Law for any such
actions. You have the Right to be a Communist, an Athiest, a racist, a religious
fanatic, but you may not force others to conform to your ideology.

Are you an American?
