NOW HEAR THIS!
actually, pat, mel gibson was in a barroom brawl the night before he
auditioned for the lead role in "Mad Max" back in the 70's -- he got some
bruises and some stitches, but a few weeks later he was fine.

the story got exaggerated a bit...

NOW HEAR THIS!
Fran, I read somewhere (after this movie came out) that Mel Gibson had
been attacked by someone, who beat him to a pulp and left him for dead;
the person who found him got him to a hospital and they had to
completely remake his face; but it took some years to do it. Perhaps
he is still suffering from some sort of trauma! I'm sure I would be!
(He is one handsome young man, though!). I just wonder if they worked
from a photograph or if his face is new, even to him?

I consider myself very lucky that the only thing which ever happened to
me was falling in the mayor's office after Hurricane Frederic. As a
result of that fall, I had to have both knees replaced; was on crutches
for a while (seemed like forever but really wasn't!) And I still walk
with a cane. Of course I can't blame anyone for my fall; except,
perhaps me! I was in the file room when my desk phone rang. Of course,
in the cleanup of the aftermath of the hurricane, our floors, carpets,
etc., were soaking; and I slipped and fell, as simple as that! But it
certainly changed MY life! I continued to work until retirement (at age
68 for me); by that time I could hardly walk; so I had the knee
replacement surgery (City Hall had to take care of all the expenses,
thank goodness; otherwise, I'd still be paying for it!); I get round
pretty well now, with the aid of my cane; and, somedays, I don't even
have to use the cane. I consider myself very fortunate that I can walk
at all! The mayor had to call the para-medics; and they carried me out
on a stretcher! What drama! Citizens were staring like mad; 'what
happened to her!'.

However, I am not in great pain anymore; and if I am, I take an
aspirin. Just have to be very careful, going up and down steps. My
sons built railings for me. I figure I'm a lucky person! It could have
been worse! The one thing I really miss is high heels!
I have to wear flats all the time now. And I usually just wear black
tennis shoes! Works for me!

Have a great day,
Pat H.
