To relay "just the facts" -- and thanks to Fran for picking this up.

John Kerry served on board the guided missile frigate USS Gridley right after completing his initial navy training (he was an ensign). The Gridley did a WESTPAC deployment in late 1967. Not sure why Kerry doesn't talk about the Gridley, but there isn't much to find about it.

Kerry arrived in Vietnam 11/1968. He left 4/1969.
