Pat J
FYI
An earlier post (Think by one of the Pats) found the ship he (Kerry) was on.
The ship was stationed off 'Nam for a time. It also gives his years of
service. Plus he VOLUNTEERED, not drafted.

Re: Bush and the Guard....Bush Sr was in Congress at the time as a
Representative. Now, unless they volunteered, most of Congress's children went into the
Guard. It was a legitimate way to avoid the draft, and most did just that.
At the time, there were about 500 applicants to the TANG, and George Jr. went
to the head of the list, and was immediately put into flight training. Bush Jr
was given the rank of Lt. He was in for 6 years required attendance. To
date, except for one dental visit, there is almost a year where he "disappeared"
off the rosters and did not attend. Unless the documents are released, proving
otherwise, he was AWOL. (The documents were sealed from public disclosure,
about the time he ran for Governor of TX. ) He also got an early-out before the
6 years were up. He did learn to fly, and as soon as he finished, was when he
went to Alabama. He DID make up some time just before he was transferred to
"inactive status" to a group in CO. Shortly after that, he got an honorable
discharge. There is a site thast has SOME copies of his original records, but
found it a long time ago, and have forgotten the name. Google search would
find it for anyone interested.

RE: The facts on Clinton's "draft-dodging". He had a Rhodes scholarship,
which he EARNED, in England, which he attended. That may have provided a LEGAL
deferment. Cheney had the same, as did others in the Bush administration.
Clinton was registered for the Draft. HIS NUMBER WAS NEVER CALLED. So, quite
literally, he DID NOT dodge the draft. By the Right's definition, anyone, whose
number wasn't called, would be catagorized as a draft dodger. Draft dodgers are
the ones who ran to Canada and had to get amnesty to return to the U.S.
