You must do things differently in HI. If you wanted to come to a Republican meeting in AR you would be welcome. The Republicans would do their best to change your mind but would never think of throwing out someone they regard as so unfortunate. I was a Democrat until about 40 years ago. Their was no way to vote any other way. We had poll tax to pay each year and I became disgusted with the practice of buying the poll tax and then giving it to people who were so uneducated or uninterested that they would vote the way they were told. When Winthrop Rockefeller came to AR and began to promote the Republican Philosophy, I changed sides and haven't looked back. The only thing about President Bush that disappoints us is that he isn't acting on the principals that he was elected on. There is no way I can ever imagine that I would change to Democrat. But that is what makes politics so interesting.

That's what I thought, and which is why liberals call the people who follow that rule, "Sheeple". My parents were loyal Republicans, as was I, until I got old enough to see the difference....about aged 35 or so. Took GW to change my sister and her family though. She's 80, and voted Repub all her life. I think my split was triggered by Watergate. When Watergate broke, he, like so many, refused to believe that Nixon was guilty, just as the loyalists today, can't with GW. There's a new term for Republicans going around now....YOYOs ...
that stands for the "You're on your own" Party.

I, of course, was the "black sheep". My favorite passtime, in political debates with my father, was to threaten to change my registration to Republican again, go to all the meetings with him, and do nothing but ask questions and question the answers. In other words, be a Democrat in Republican clothing! He never offered to take me....wonder why? LOL Around election time, I always get the urge to do just that, except, without my father, I'd either get arrested or thrown out.. So much for freedom of speech, as a Republican, so I'm stuck as an independent or a Democrat, where I can argue my points freely..
