A few days before Mother's Day, my son, Brien (webmaster for WAVES
National web site) emailed me, asking if I would like to have someone
cook breakfast for me; and if so, transportation could be arranged.
Naturally I emailed back, with the information that I would very much like
to have someone cook breakfast, and that transportation would not be a
problem.
Accordingly, on Sunday morning, my three daughters and I went to
his residence. He was on the deck, grilling breakfast port chops,
sausage, Onion Blossoms, along with eggs cooked to order. He had a
long-stemmed red rose for each of us; would not allow any of us to help
him in any way. He also had a bottle of Blush Chablis (he had enlisted
the aid of a woman at the shop; he said the wine counter was as long as
a mobile home!
The lady looked as if she knew what she was doing so, he
introduced himself, told her his problem, and asked for help. He said she
stepped back, looked at him quizzically, apparently decided he was
harmless and then proceeded with the task at hand.
After ascertaining his
menu, she made the suggestion of Blush Chablis and he followed it. My son
is a single parent of a twelve-year old son. (I might be just a tad
prejudiced, but I think they are both wonderful!)
It was truly a
wonderful day--or was it just because I did not have to cook? No, it was
a wonderful day; four of my adult children, enjoying a brief moment out of
our lives, just being together. It made a great day for me!
