Hello: My mother served in the WAVES during WWII and I have been researching whether the WAVES' service was ever celebrated with a service medal or other official naval decoration. To date, I have not found any evidence that such a medal is available. My mother is in her mid-80s now as are most surviving WAVES. I think such a decoration or medal is long overdue, if in fact one has never been issued. I am prepared to petition my Senators and US Representative to see if this can be accomplished on behalf of the thousands of women who served as WAVES in WWII. I would appreciate any information about any efforts that WAVES NATIONAL may have made to get such a decoration issued. Thanks
